The production rights of Vijay's 65th film as lead actor were acquired by Sun Pictures in early January 2020 when it was set to be written and directed by A. R. Murugadoss. However, the producers ousted Murugadoss from the film in October 2020 after he refused to cut his remuneration. Nelson was later hired, and he wrote a new script for the film. Principal photography began in April 2021 and wrapped in December taking place in Chennai, Delhi and Georgia. The music was composed by Anirudh, cinematography was handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, editing by R. Nirmal, and production design supervised by D. R. K. Kiran.

Beast was released in theatres on 13 April 2022, where it received mixed reviews from critics and audience with praise for Vijay's performances, action sequences, cinematography, soundtrack, direction and musical score, but criticism directed towards its pace, writing and dark humour. However, the film grossed around ₹236.90–250.05 crore.

Happy New Year movie  Reviews

Worst Movie.Boring dialogs.THIS Movie is not worth to its price ticket.Nothing new in movie.Three hours of Shah Rukh flaunting his abs and swagger gets too much to take minus a strong storyline. Farah Khan has redeemed Tees Maar Khan but Happy New Year is her most mediocre work. I am going with 0.5/10. It's a magnum opus which is pretty much hollow from within and remains an all frills, no thrills show.illogical script mixed with senseless Farah's love towards the incapable Shahrukh coupled with 3 hr duration makes the experience too painful to handle. The actors were terrible except for Abhishek who did surprisingly well.

Pathetic Movie with some non-laughable 'forced' action-comedy sequences.

I am Regret that I watch this awful film and waste my time you have chance don,t ever go near that film if you have little sense What happen to bollywood they making worse and worse. I think competition in bollywood that who make worse film that they just just forget. AWFUL 3 out of 10
